It’s only been a week since the big downpour that caused such widespread washouts in the Copper Country. We brought the story while it was happening last weekend, and today’s video is kind of a wrap-up of the aftermath.

Welcome back to all of the snowbirds returning to the U.P. for the season! It’s all too short, but we’ll enjoy every minute. Hopefully the worst downpour of the Summer is behind us.

Such devastation, but so many people working
together to put it all back together. What a
great closely knit community. It makes you proud
to be from there. It doesn't even look like the
same area that it looked like last week. I think
we're all Yooper Proud!

I'm sure the damaged storm drainage and storm sewers will be rebuilt so they are stronger than before but let's hope this truly was a 100 year event.

That is some scary stuff...just when you think it's safe, then anything can happen. I'm surprised that so much of the landscape has been washed away...I always thought that the UP was a gigantic rock.

The recent damage in Houghton county was due to an overloading of the storm water system. In many areas Fluoride is an additive to community drinking water. While it can also be found in some ground water systems, Fluoride is not a part of the storm water system and it never touches the storm water. Sanitary water sewer systems are separated from storm water drainage systems (although in some communities it is possible for the storm water to sometimes overflow into the sanitary system, thus creating a temporary but rare case of raw sewage escaping). Any Fluoride present in the fresh water system would be disposed of through the sanitary sewer so there is no way it could play any role in the storm water system.
