Today we celebrate Flag Day and the adoption of our American Flag, so of course the archives are filled with photos of flags on this day. In 2001, Taka Aoki shared a photo with both the Michigan Flag and our Red, White and Blue American Flag. The shot was taken in Houghton, against beautiful blue skies and with the steeple from St. Ignatius Catholic Church in the background.

In 2005, we had a flag, but it wasn’t the featured photo, instead we lead off with a shot taken by Ken Scheibach of a Robin sitting on her nest atop a light on someone’s home. She seems to have chosen a good spot to hatch her eggs, since this one is under a porch roof and high enough from predators, too.

Same in 2007, we did display a flag photo, but it was not the lead in shot. Instead, we had a beautiful photo of a lupine field, featuring all three colors you find them in. I’ve just noticed the past few days on my bike ride, that the lupines have bloomed, but I’ve only spotted the dark purple ones, so far.

Something else I’ve spotted on my rides is several docks along the Rice Lake Road where the owners have Old Glory proudly waving in the wind. They always catch me eye for several reasons. Number one being the Red, White and Blue, but they also let me know which way the wind is blowing and whether I’ll be fighting it the rest of the ride or not. The fourth photo is the first dock and flag I come across, flying proudly over Rice Lake.

Today’s video is the second dock and Stars and Stripes that I encounter as it proudly waves above the rippling waters of Rice Lake. If you turn the volume up, you can even hear a little of the water lapping at the shoreline. A peaceful, fitting tribute to our American Flag!

If you're in the NFL, you're also somewhat of a celebrity and you can call for Press Conference to voice your opinions, which would be much more effective! Don't kneel during the Anthem, it's a slap in the face to those who have and are protecting our freedom, and it's weak!! Just my opinion... and we all have one....

And again, i agree with that opinion UC. These
celebrities have already impacted the attendance at
the games, which will impact their salaries. They
can pay the consequences of their actions.
