Today's archive look-back theme is dubbed, "Trails". Here in the U.P. there are all kinds of trails to explore and we start here with one that Jonathan Hopper was checking out in 2000. If I'm not mistaken, this was snapped on the snowmobile/RV trail between Lake Linden and Dollar Bay. It's the old railroad grade with a cut through a ridge from back in the mining days here in the Keweenaw.

Our next "trail" is actually a country road back in 2006, where Joyce Tormala met up with some fellow travelers while on the road to who knows where. Which means I don't know where Joyce or the deer were headed here UP North, but it looks like a good spot for people and deer alike. Take a closer look at the deer on the right... it's actually two deer standing there. You can see an extra set of ears at the base of the deer's neck and there are a few too many legs that you don't notice at first glance. Looks like Joyce was outnumbered, three to one.

The last archive shot today, comes from Elaine Robbins on a visit to Calumet Lake back in 2014, where she caught the sunrise. There is a trail around this lake and thanks to the Calumet Lions and the Calumet Township, there's a beautiful recreational area there for folks to enjoy in all seasons, including the wintry one we've been getting a taste of here in the Keweenaw for the past few days.

Today's video treat is from a trail camera set up just north of Escanaba back in 2013. Once it was set up, the owner forgot about it for a year, when his son spotted it and made a compilation of some of the more interesting visitors the cam captured over that year. Enjoy the critters and seasons.

Nice review and nice Photos. The video is just Fantastic!! Many different animals, very cool!!

Good news and what I've been waiting for... our Chicago rep decided to resign (not happy about that) but if you recall me saying, she also covered the U.P.. Well I convinced my mgt. to let me see what I can get going in the way of new business, and I just returned from a week long trip U.P. there with great success I might add. It was great to call on my old contacts. I do believe with the activity I created this week, they will move the Western end into my territory! I would be surprised/ shocked if I don't keep the whole U.P.!!

Mary, sorry I didn't have enough time to call you on this trip, but I promise to look you and Jim up next trip.

Amazing, the amount of wildlife activity that takes place out of sight behind the scenes. It's like a sub-culture witnessed only by woodland pixies and fairies.

You are right, Charlie. That is a terrific video. Was that really a
cougar I saw? My son-in-law's trail cam was stolen, but before it
was, we saw wonderful footage of deer, foxes, a wolf, a few bears,
etc. Just because we can't see them doesn't mean those critters
aren't there.

So happy about your change in territory, Uncle Chuck.

Fantastic video. The large numbers of wolves in the trail cam video is amazing.

I too saw a Cougar and also a Bobcat I think.

Good morning. I love the deer picture. And that
video is amazing. So much wildlife out there.
What an exciting discovery and so much fun to
watch.

Congrats, UC. I know you've been wanting to get
that territory. That's awesome!
