As the leaves fall and the brilliant colors fade in the Keweenaw, we still get to enjoy the fall hues here on the Pasty Cam with photos that have appeared in the archives over the past years. In today's first 2007 photo from Kathy Jennings, you can see a smattering of fall red amongst the pile of someone's winter wood supply. It's a timely photo for those that heat with wood, that time is getting short to prepare your heat source for the coming wintry months.

An interesting shot from 2012, snapped by Dave Mendelin... you can see some fall color in the leaves behind the MTU Great Lakes Research Center Data Buoy that had washed ashore near Sedar Bay during a storm that reported 25 foot waves on Lake Superior. For perspective on the height of the waves, look at the Keweenaw Snow Thermometer. This Data Buoy is normally located three miles out in Lake Superior, near the North Portage Entry. We often get some dandy wind storms in the later fall like this.

Our trio of photos today, concludes with a peaceful woods setting from 2015 and a young lady obtaining her inner peace in the midst of the colorful, fallen leaves. Dave Moyle took this picture of his wife, Amy, as she sat in the blanket of leaves near their Lake Linden home. So much color, so much beauty, so much peace in that photo, it's a good reminder to stop and appreciate the nature that surrounds you.

Today's video is going to take us along with the launch of the MTU Great Lakes Research Center South Entry Data Buoy back in 2011. This one is much like the one that washed ashore in the second photo, but is located on the southern end of Portage Entry. Interesting to see all that goes into getting one of these "weather reporters" ready for operation on the Big Lake.

Beautiful autumn colors again todoay. Love the
peacefulness of sitting in the leaves. The 2004
review picture brings back so many memories. How
many times did we cross the tracks like that and
stop to look down. We had so much fun as children
UP there.
