It's pretty much guaranteed that the next few weeks in the Pasty Cam archives, we'll be focusing on the fall colors, so sit back an enjoy the color tours to come. Today's look-back begins in 2005, with a photo shared by Susan Hooker. No fall colors showing in this beautiful vista looking out from Point Abbaye in Baraga County, unless you count the blues of the sky and Lake Superior. Check out the cloud reflection in the pools of water on the rocks there.

Joyce Tormala found some color back in 2006, when she was out walking with a trio of cats on a country trail. I like the smattering of leaves already fallen on the road... makes me think that if I breathe in deep enough, I could even smell fall.

In 2009, Jim Alain was hiking in the Clark Mine area near Copper Harbor and found an interesting shaped tree. I wonder what caused it to make a loop like that during its growth. You can just see a bit of yellow in the "out of focus" leaves behind it.

Just this past week, Jeff Dennis headed out for an evening ride on the trail between Lake Linden and Dollar Bay, here in the Copper Country. You can see the colors have begun, but there's still plenty of green in the woods there too.

As long as we're in the woods, let's join a Discovering segment covering the different tree species here in the U.P. After viewing this twenty minute video, you'll be able to identify many of the trees you see both in the woods and here on the Pasty Cam. We don't only share the beauty, we share the knowledge, too!

almost always come for walks with us when we walk
the dog. Everybody around here thinks it's so
comical that they do that. But I don't think it's
as rare as people think. Cats are great
creatures.

my first job, when I as a teenager, my cat use to walk with me to the bus stop and wait with me. There was a building at the bus stop that had steps and my cat would sit next to me. Once in awhile he would jump on my lap one more time. Then I would say, 'here comes the bus' and he would jump off my lap. I would watch, out of the bus window, as he would go home.

Yes, nice story. Reminds me of the movie, "Hachi: A Dog's Tale " staring Richard Gere.

I loved every cat I ever had, but, he was kind of special. ;O)
