If you haven't visited the Pasty Cam in awhile, you may be wondering what's UP with all the archive photos lately. We're well into our 20th year of daily photos from the U.P. and thought it would be fun to look back at the past 19 years and share a few each day that appeared years back. We start today's group of photos back in 2007 with a picture snapped by Al Covell. He captured bubble making in action and not just any bubbles, but really HUGE ones. I like how you can see the rainbow colors reflected from the sun!

Jump ahead five years to 2012 and we get to join, Edie, Becky, Kira and Kit at a picnic in Lac La Belle. Charlie Hopper was there, too, but he was behind the lens preserving the moment. Great memories for these little ladies to have with Grandma and Grandpa here in the Keweenaw.

Then in 2013, Jeff Dennis and his family headed over to Mackinac Island for a summer trip. He snapped this shot of the kids on the shores of Lake Huron. Did you spot the Big Mac off in the distance?

As long as we're looking at Lake Huron, I thought it would be fun to throw some of those rocks in the water. Today's video was recorded in 2011 and says that it's "Sean doing what he does best, throwing rocks in Lake Huron from the beach on Mackinac Island." Who doesn't like tossing rocks and watching them splash or skip?

Such sweet moments! We did a lot of stone skipping in our day. My Dad had his daughters trained to look for good skipping stones and we'd bring them to him! He had all the fun and none of the work!

I love Mackinac Island. It is my favorite place to visit that is not far away.

Precious pix and video, each and every one!

BTW, Charlie...the Pasty web pages are loading a lot quicker these days. Whatever you did, it's working.

Love Mackinac Island too, Duane. Also my favorite place to visit, but for me it's quite far away! 2013 was our last vaca there and the family's now bugging me to take them back.

Listen to the family, George! Listen to the family!

(and no, they didn't pay me to say that!)

Great pictures and love the video. As I said, we
visited Madeline Island in the Apostles and it
just doesn't compare to Mackinac Island. One of
my favorite destinations for sure. Can't remember
the last time we were there. I think it was 2008,
the year my dad passed away. Since then,
vacations are pretty much all spent in the Yoop
with my mom. We keep saying we have to get up
there. Some day!

By jbuck (Jbuck) on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 - 06:29 pm:

Deb, i have always wanted to explore the Apostle Islands. There is so much history and so many lighthouses there. Would enjoy going on a trip where they take you passed as many of the lighthouses as possible. What is Madeline Island like? Do people take their own cars over?

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 - 07:53 pm:

Yes, Jbuck, it's not like Mackinac Island where
there are no cars. We were talking to one of
the women there who used to live in MN. She
said it gets awfully lonely in the winter. We
didn't see much of the island. Next time we
would ferry our car over there, too, and drive
around the island. So there's not much I can
tell you about it, other than there's no
comparison to Mackinac Island. And yes next
time we're going to try to see the lighthouses
other than from the water. But the Grand Tour
around the islands is a great time. We loved
it.
