So many ways to enjoy the summer here UP North, let me count the ways. On second thought, let's not and just enjoy the choices that appeared in the last 19 years on this day. We start with a beach campout scene snapped by Joyce Tormala. Such a peaceful quiet spot, I can just imagine the sound of the water lapping up on shore. Beautiful!

Our second summer activity is another beach scene. Volleyball on the shores of Lake Superior, I don't think sports can get much better than that. Melanie Hakala Rossi captured this game in progress, with the Big Lake as their background. Best part of that, is when they're all sweaty after a well played game, they can just jump in Superior's waters for a quick cool down.

Last, but not least for today's archive shots, is one from Jan Dalquist, who was at McLain State Park, photographing her son, Dave and friends out on the Big Lake windsurfing. What a feeling that must be to glide over the water like that, harnessing the wind to propel you along.

The featured video today, caps off the theme of beaches, water and Lake Superior, since it has all three. Jeff Dennis and his son went out cruising along Superior's shoreline on their Jet Ski. The water is glassy and still, so the ride will be smooth. Hold on and enjoy the scenery!

A multitude of ways to enjoy the waters and beaches of Lake Superior. The solitude of a lone tent on the beach would be my choice.
