Brenda Leigh and her hubby, Jim had heard about a small body of water in the Brimley, Chippewa County area called Roxsbury Pond, so they decided to set out on their snowshoes in search of this pond.

They parked their car near a creek and headed out, wanting to see if they could hike cross country to find the body of water. They had no idea they would be hiking across hundreds of acres of a Pine Plantation managed by Mead Paper, so she said that was a fun surprise, seeing all the beautiful Red Pine trees.

Another unexpected sight on their trek, were the many rabbit tracks everywhere in the forest. Brenda said the rabbits have been eating the little Pine trees. You can see the evidence of that in the fourth photo. She said she knew that they strip the bark off small maples and other trees low enough to the ground, however these rabbits were eating the pine trees and needles too, which was a surprise. The fifth shot is a good one of the rabbit tracks, which Brenda thinks might be from a Horseshoe Rabbit.

Brenda's last photo is the pond they were hiking in search of, Roxsbury Pond, although it's hard to tell it's a pond since it's covered in ice and snow!

Thanks for the tour of an area we have never seen before! The water scenes are beautiful!

Hi
Horseshoe rabbit? Is that a new, invasive species? ;>)

It's nice to see snow pictures.

Nice pix!
What were you doing in 1995? I was unemployed, looking for a new job and finally found the company I'm still with...22 years later. It's not bad and I'm thinking about staying. :-)

...BTW Brenda; Did you pick any Roxsberries while you were there? I hear they make a great smoothie.

I sure am glad that Brenda is always out there
braving the elements to get all of the pictures that
she shares with us. Nice job, as always, Brenda!
