Just in case you missed the fireworks in a U.P. town near you, Joy Ziemnick steps in with a number of shots she snapped while enjoying the Lake Linden fireworks this past weekend.

The skies around the Keweenaw were ablaze with lights and crackling just about throughout the weekend, as the various communities in the area held fireworks displays. It's always a fitting way to either start the Independence Day celebrations or end the festivities for another year. Enjoy today's giant sparklers!

Beautiful shots of the fireworks, Joy!! I had never thought of fireworks as being giant sparklers before ... but that's exactly what they are. Great description, Mary!

Always had great fun with sparklers on 4th of July when my siblings and I were growing up. If we were able to watch fireworks too, it was a bonus! :-)

I love fireworks anytime of the year. Thanks 4 sharing.

Great pictures Joy; you caught them at the perfect moments! Looks like Lake Linden did an outstanding job with their celebration of America's 240th.

Very nice...they look like neon blossoms.

Those are gorgeous fireworks! Thanks for sharing them with us.

Down here in Covid Country all the fireworks displays were cancelled. I am glad you all still had some. All my neighbors did not let us down and I mean ALL my neighbors. Plus they were some of the most powerful non-commercial ones I've ever seen inside the city limits. People will find a way to persevere. BTW, did you see the video from a TV helicopter in Los Angeles last night? It was wild.

Fireworks Dog

By D. A. (Midwested) on Monday, July 6, 2020 - 09:07 pm:

I hear you FRNash. I don't have a dog or pet but I can imagine the troubles my neighbors had. It seems to be increasing every year.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Saturday, July 11, 2020 - 07:34 pm:

Wow! Great fireworks pictures. We didn't have
fireworks this year. We didn't have much of
anything. So sad. Our 50th class reunion was
postponed also.
Speaking of pets, my co-worker has a dog who
shakes uncontrollably when people are shooting
them off. It goes on right in town, and
they're illegal so I don't know how they get
away with it. But I've seen people bringing
their small dogs to the fireworks display in
town. Their poor little ears is all I can say.
