Over the last few days we have seen the end of an extended warm spell this Fall in the upper Midwest. While the midsection of the country has a raging snowstorm, we have had a fair amount of lake-effect snow here along Superior's southern shore.

These conditions reminded me of Dave Antikainen's magnificent shot of the Cliffs along U.S. 41 near Phoenix, which he shared with us back in the Fall of 2004. Good example of the way it looks this time of year, with the snow always a little there up the hill from Eagle River. I think this shot was featured back in the 2005 Pasty Cam Calendar.

If ever there was a correct time to use the descriptive word "awesome", today is it, Charlie, because these views are definitely that. I remember seeing them in the past but they are always breathtakingly beautiful. Thanks for sharing them again.

That being said, I miss hunting with my uncle Tem Ahonen and my dad (Grampa Norm), we'd be 18 miles back in the woods with my pal Marty at the wheel on a trail we had no right being on this time of year with GN saying " go ahead, I think we can make it!" But what if we can't??? I ain't walkin!! followed up by a great lunch or dinner at Little Betsy and a sauna and a bear butt run to Superior, man that was livin U.P. Style!

Thanks for bringing back these great memories and letting me indulge a bit!
