When Melody Provost Holmes headed UP North for a color tour, she hit it rich with critters, too, snapping a mother moose and her twin calves near Amasa, along with a deer and a chipmunk in her explorations. Check out what the chipmunk is eating. That's a worm, which is a bit of a surprise, as I thought they just ate bird seed, acorns and such.

There was plenty of color that Melody found, too. Some on dirt roads along her travels, with the last photo having been snapped while up on Bare Bluff in the Keweenaw. A little bit of a hike to get there, but look at that amazing view. Well worth the trip, I'd say!

Thanks for these great pix! Bare Bluff was my first hike in the Keweenaw and I remember hiking up the steep hill to the top, walking out of the tree-line and man, what a view. Thanks again for the hike!

Oh my, what a delightful site, and sight, this morning ~ beautiful critters and gorgeous views! All of it, a bit breathtaking.
Thanks, Melody, you're a great photographer.:)

Wow! Getting a photo of one moose is amazing, but
three??? I also had no idea that chipmunks would
eat worms. I guess you really do learn something
new each day. Love all the pics today! Fall is
such a beautiful time of the year, and Melody
proved it in her wonderful photos.

...I'm down wit it, JB!

By eugenia r. thompson (Ert) on Thursday, October 22, 2015 - 08:37 pm:

Wow, THREE moose in one view! How awesome is that!

Chipmunks are definitely omnivores. They will eat
bird eggs and baby birds as well as worms and
grubs...and the usual things we see them eating,
like bird seed.

Great pix, all I can say is.... I need a Keweenaw fix really bad, maybe I could give our Chicago rep. NW Ohio if she'll give me the rest of the U.P., currently I only have the Soo and the L.P., Don't get me wrong, I love the Eastern end, but I'd like to have the whole enchilada, I know I have more contacts than she does, she won't go to the U.P. in the winter. Did I mention lately I need a road trip! lol

"… I'd like to have the whole enchilada …"

Unclechuck:
You've obviously been away far too long; that surely should be "the whole pasty"! 😉
