Hiking around the Keweenaw is something Melanie Hakala Rossi enjoys doing and the best part is that she always takes her camera along, then shares what she's captured. That way we all get to go with her, without cramping her style.

Today's Lake Superior photos were snapped near Fish Cove, on the south side of the tip of the Keweenaw, just past the mouth of the Montreal River. Click on the following link for a map to give you a better idea of where this cove is: Keweenaw tip map

The Big Lake sure was stirred up this day and Melanie snapped some great shots showing the power this magnificent Great Lake possesses. The third and fifth photos are my favorites, as there's just something about capturing a wave in the middle of doing its thing.

Melanie's last photo was taken somewhere between the mouth of the Montreal and Fish Cove. She said that they've hiked many miles around the tip of the Keweenaw and have never seen moss like that, they were like pillows. That was my first thought, too, they look like soft, green pillows. Makes you wonder if this is where Mother Nature takes her naps.

Those green moss 'pillows' are certainly unique.

Some great pictures of a rolling lake and some not so rolling stones. I've not seen anything like those moss covered stones before.

I don't think I've ever hiked to Fish Cove, though I have hiked in to
the mouth of the Montreal River. Marvellous pictures. I love both
the moss pillows and the waves. Thank you, Melanie.
