The Lake Superior shoreline is dotted along the highways, with small turnouts that have picnic tables which make them perfect for a relaxing day away from it all. One such spot is Joe Kirkish's favorite place to stop and pick rocks for his garden.

He stopped there recently and said that he did find a few rocks, but at the same time noticed that the habit of writing names in public places still holds even on the beach. Some people drew pictures; others signed their name, while others added "was here" after theirs. I guess you could call this beach graffiti and the best part about it is that if it gets to be too much, it can be made into a bonfire on Superior's shores.

FOOTNOTE: Yesterday's shots from Judy Byykkonen involved animals and cuteness. If you missed them, just click here: Tuesday, July 14th, to take a look at them!

Truly superior pictures! One of the things I love
best about Lake Superior shores is all of the
driftwood. How fun to sign your name or draw a
picture to let people know you were there.

Thanks, Joe!

Greetings:

Does the park have a name?

Sure looks like a restful stop, Joe. Thanks for a look/see.

Looks like the mouth of the Big Iron River in Silver City. Very nice!

Nice pix, but I am not too comfortable with the graffiti. I hope that it does not get to vulgar or profane, as I have seen happen at other places in the past.

Mary says: Alex...thus my point in that it can easily be removed if it does get to that point, by either burning the log or removing it. :-)

I would say burn it
