In the summer months, if you're not paying attention to the scenery, you could drive right by Bishop Baraga up there on the bluff between Baraga and L'Anse and not even notice he's there. But he is hard to miss in the winter months for sure. Donna MacIntosh stopped and snapped these pictures with the Bishop watching over the Bay. She even got a picture of the thick ice on the Red Rock bluff he stands upon.

The remaining shots from Donna were taken in the same general area around Keweenaw Bay. What I loved the most about them is the blue sky and sunshine. We don't see that very often UP here in the winter.

After spreading my dad's ashes after he died ,my sister Pati and I visited the Bishop Baraga site as it was so serene and provided some solace for us. It is a Copper Country Icon and truly unique.

The blue skies are beautiful, but it usually means the air is colder without the cloud cover.

Thanks for these views, Donna.

I love looking for the Bishop as we drive back from the Keweenaw to
Ishpeming. You're right, Mary. He's much harder to spot in the
summer than in the winter. Nice shots, Donna.

Great shot Donna! I remember when the Bishop statue was being built in Lake Linden. Gosh, that was a year or two ago! ;>)

We have temps in the upper 30s coming up for this weekend - should feel like a heat wave compared to what we had a couple of weeks or so ago.

More Winter beauty, as usual. Keep it coming.

I remember visiting the shop where the Bishop was
made. Seeing parts of the statue close up. Very large sections. It has weathered the years very
nicely.
